Theta.

Theta.

Theta.

T-h-e-t-a.

No matter how many times he writes it, a part of him can't believe it's his.  It seems unusual, illogical even, that someone would do such a thing, give him a name.  Surely he would forget it, go back to being nameless, to being the not-quite-Doctor or that simple, suitable 'you' that people use so often.  A name all his own is something he simply can't quite manage to grasp.

But there it is, written so many different ways and repeated softly to himself as he tastes the word on his lips.  Theta.

It's the name Koschei thinks is good enough for him, it's the name he thinks he deserves and it almost feels right in his mind.  Almost.

There are still ties to him, the Doctor, hidden within that name, but he can pretend it's his own.  After writing it over and over, it becomes easier and when he says it there's a fluidity to his voice, as if he didn't have to think at all.

However, it's not until Koschei uses it again, says his name softly while an awkward hand moves to rest on his shoulder for just a moment, that Theta turns to him and smiles.
